Learning Area: Science

At West Leederville Primary School, the Primary Connections program is used to ensure the consistent delivery of the Western Australian Curriculum: Science.  This is an inquiry skills based approach to teaching science and is heavily focussed on literacy. It includes the 5 Es model: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate. Science ‘word walls’ are displayed in every classroom at West Leederville Primary School to encourage the use of consistent, formal scientific vocabulary.

Annually, the school’s Science Committee plan co-ordinated experiments and activities to celebrate National Science Week.
