Learning Area: Mathematics

Mathematics is a priority area at West Leederville Primary School. All mathematics lessons reflect an ‘effective mathematics lesson structure’ (similar to a numeracy block) and include explicitly stated learning intentions, differentiated activities and plenaries. Classrooms feature ‘word walls’ to support the development and use of mathematical vocabulary.

First Steps resources form the basis of all mathematics learning experiences. The use of iMaths and Mathletics complement the school’s delivery of the Western Australian Curriculum: Mathematics.
